22,700 people die each year in road accidents in the EU and 120,000 are injured. In the past 10 years, nearly 12,000 children and young people have lost their lives in accidents. Bulgaria is at the top of this sad ranking.
The European Parliament has taken many initiatives to improve road safety and has set itself the ambitious goal of having no Europeans killed in accidents in just 30 years, through common legislation.
